RUMFORD CENTRAL STATION

Home of the Rumford Fire Department.  This station houses Engine #8, Engine #7, Tanker #5, Engine #2, Rescue#1, and Car #1. We also have a mobile generator,  forestry trailer and Hazardous materials spill trailer in the basement.

The Station was built in 1924.  The station was built for horse and carriage and smaller apparatus

of the day.  Architects never imagined how large modern day fire apparatus would become.

To the right and behind the station you can see our Ladder truck building.  No modern day

ladder truck will fit in our station.

Apparatus floor.  Seen here with Engine 7 out of the station.  You can see the doors to the tool room,

dispatch, and break room from left to right.  Note our brass fire pole to the left of our rescue.

Our cascade system is housed in the front of the station.  We fill SCBA bottles for the

surrounding fire departments also.

Dispatch area.  We just finished upgrading our dispatch thanks to a grant written by the Chief and Lt Bryant.

Day room.  This is our break room.  It was formally the stalls for the horses.

The rear of the department.  This picture shows, our parking lot, the ramp to the basement, and the

Police parking area.   The building next door is the town hall.  It houses, town offices, district court,

the police department (including a few holding cells), and an auditorium.

Our dual role training area.  We use this room for working out and for class room lecture.

Upstairs hallway.  Bunk rooms, bathroom, and utility rooms.

Utility room used for storage and department laundry.

Ramp to basement where we house our Chief's Car, Utility, and

various trailers.  It can be interesting coming out of the basement during the winter.
